happy holidays!

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

hope everyone’s been having a great holiday season, sorry i’m a little behind in the wishes and updates!  a really amazing new project has been keeping us pretty crazed over here, but crazed in a great way!

i love working with sweet and wonderful clients, and my latest are pretty awesome,  gary oldman and his wife alex! besides being a complete joy to work with, they also have amazing taste- they’re edgy, cool and chic – which makes it so much fun! we’re glamming up their beautiful, european inspired home up by adding a touch of new york sophistication and mixing it in with a new london vibe.

i’m so excited about the evolution of this project and can’t wait to post pics when complete!

in the meantime, here are a few of the fab pieces we’ve already bought from various sources like ebay, 1st dibs and antique/ vintage shops. keep in mind, some of these pieces have yet to be refurbished!

molly’s new office!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

as mentioned in an earlier post, this summer we helped molly revamp a few rooms in her l.a. home, including her home office.  although  this little space has gone through a few incarnations over the 5 years that we’ve worked together, this time the makeover was geared towards functionality.  molly was on the verge of launching her new jewelry line, grayce, and everything had to be perfect!   we kept the basics of the space the same,  but added some fun new pieces like an inspiration board for all of her thoughts and ideas, a gorgeous, antique vitrine from emmerson troop in l.a. to display her creations, and just for fun, a bunch of fab ikat toss cushions from nathan turner.

see  photos of molly’s  new grayce space and her amazing, vintage inspired jewelry collection in this months instyle!

busy!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

just started working with a new client, enrique murciano,  on a quickie makeover for his new home – lots of work and fun! the house is a mid century  in the hills with an open layout,  amazing views and splashes of color everywhere! these vibrant touches were added by the previous owner, but we’re embracing the look and adding our own pops of color in unexpected places-pics to come!  this project is definitely unlike any ive worked on to date, so im really excited by the opportunity to flex my design muscles! mediaservicethemlscom

shades of grey

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

although kaitlin’s place is not completely finished, wanted to share a few pics -  we’re almost there! from smokey grey’s to charcoals, we were going for a neutral yet modern palette.  by adding rustic and vintage pieces throughout, the overall mix is quite interesting i think!

done!

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

we recently wrapped up a project for one of our client’s and friend’s, a well known celeb hair stylist, in the beverly center area.  when he bought this 1920’s spanish, about a year ago, the place was in quite a state of disrepair!

we updated the bathrooms, that was a necessity, but maintained as much of its original charm as was possible. we kept the brick fireplace wall, the vintage hardwood floors, the quaint built in’s, and refurbished as needed.

the client’s initial inspiration was drawn from the parker palm springs, but he also wanted his home to reflect his globe trotting lifestyle. by  incorporating articles and influences from his world travels, as well as mixing  in several craigslist, ebay and thrift shop finds, we created a warm, eclectic and modern space that he now calls home.

check out some scouting shots below, professional pics coming soon!

instyle

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

yesterday instyle magazine came out to our client molly sims’ place to photograph her, and her home office, for an upcoming issue, very exciting!  the house was bursting at the seams with racks of clothes, rows of shoes,  flowers,  lights, cameras and the rest of it! although we originally designed this office a few years back, we’ve continued to add layers in order to keep it modern, young and fun. my favorite recent finds for her office include some vibrant ikat pillows from nathan turner and a few beautiful mercury glass pieces from vintageweave, both located here in l.a.

for photos of molly, and the current incarnation of her boho-chic office, both looking fab, pick up the november issue of instyle magazine!
